The P-47 was respectfully known as the "JUG" which was short for
Juggernaut, with the meaning of a terrible, irresistible force. The
P-47 was introduced in May, 1941 with it's primary role as a high
altitude interceptor. It was the heaviest single engine fighter of
the day. With a ceiling of 42,000 feet and a maximum speed of 460 mph
the "JUG" became a multipurpose fighter. Its early role as a bomber
escort quickly evolved into the best ground support aircraft during
WWII. This highly detailed model is built to scale and is highly
detailed. The wingspan is an enormous 25 inches in length and the it
measures approx. 21 inches long. Opening cockpit with detailed scale
pilot included. Landing gear can be raised or lowered. Working wing
